ABOUT ME
Melissa Cohen is an LCSW who received her Masters in Science (MS) from Columbia University School of Social Work, an Advanced Certificate in Social Work from New York University and a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from UC Irvine.
She has been working with children, adolescents, and adults for the past 20 years in her private practice in NYC. Her practice is dedicated to helping students find their own identity while managing their need for independence.
Melissa founded The Rymac Group to focus her work on students and their families who are experiencing conflict and anxiety related to the educational process. Since every situation is unique, Melissa approaches each student and family differently and the work is tailored to their individual needs.
In addition to specializing in academic anxiety, conflict resolution, communication and managing both student and parental expectations, Melissa consults on the college admissions process. She believes that there is a “right choice/match” of school for each student where they can thrive and that this decision can make all the difference in the student’s overall success.
Melissa is a member of NASW, an Associate Member of IECA and the Founder of the not-for-profit Cohen Esophageal Cancer Initiative.
